Quotes (1)

Interestingly, we find that certain Christian and Judaic enclaves (such as the Gnostics and Essenes) also revered the goddess and the feminine principle. She is, for instance, mentioned in the Dead Sea Scrolls. In gospels such as that of Thomas (first translated into English by Professor Helmut Koester), we read of Sophia, the goddess of wisdom, and we sense a great reverence for the feminine aspects of deity totally absent in the orthodox branch of Judeo-Christianity. Then, to establish and emphasize our point, we find that these Gnostic sects predate Christianity and Judaism by centuries.
