Honeybees making a COMEBACK !

by Tarheel on June 13th, 2014

I workout in my yard barefoot, daily. I have a lot of clover i in.on my lawn, and it is flowering to beat the band. In the last 2 weeks, I have stepped on and been STUNG by honeybees 3 times. I don't know if honeybees population/s is/are back everywhere, but I can tell you that I was never stung before this year-and I have been working out (outside as climate/season/weather dictates) barefoot for years.

I hope my lawn bees are indicative of a comeback. I guess I am the sacrificial pin cushion for bee population return. If only I could find the hive/s, I could curtail my raw honey expenditure. I'm going thru a quart every 3 weeks (+/-).

bluesbaby5050: Not being careful...........

In the first place by seeing the bees, and avoiding stepping on them, because they are now becoming rare now, and is bad for the bees. Every time people manage to get stung by a bumble bee, they are dis-emboweling the honey bee. And this ends their life! And walking around barefoot out side all the time is not a smart idea either, because parasites get into the blood stream by ways of the skin pores, and invade the blood stream with worms, and germs of all kinds, such as Hook worms common down south eastern, USA. and in poorer countries, and this is just one type. Also, people run a high risks of other kinds of pathogens getting in to the human body, and this could prove fatal. Anthrax is picked up from the soil, and so is Tetanus, and getting caught though the blood stream, and the skins pores, and though minute cuts/holes in the skin, and this could prove to be very fatal. With out a vaccine for Tetanus, within 10 hours your going downhill very fast. And then a booster shot is needed to activate the Tetanus vaccine which runs out every 10 years, ( other wise it will not protect you), and with out one, people run the risks of dying, or becoming handicap from damage to their nervous system which runs from the brain, and links though out the human body. Brain damage, and or Kidney damage could become permanent, and a fatal stroke, and nerve damage, if you should survive, and either way you will not be the same after. Wear shoes, boots, sandals when out side. Even on the beach is wise to do, because there are many ways to get cuts there as well.

Silenci030310: A friend of mine makes custom

A friend of mine makes custom bee hives, he has a lot them in his land you see. A lot bees, there honey is so good, I love honey so sweet especially on my green tea in the morning or on a bagel sandwich.

Tarheel: Make that 4 I've stepped on now.

This one musta just bit me as it didnt sting long. I always look before I step, especially after the 1st sting...ALWAYS ! But it happened again last night.
The Bee got up and flew away after I rolled him off my foot so it wasn't a full stomp on his body. Still, he was 1 tough dude.
I still wanna find the hive. I'm paying $13/qt which is cheap but nothing beats free.

Silenci030310: There just bees you be

There just bees you be alright jeje when I was small I use grab mason jars put bumble bees then shake them for fun and smack them with my hat lol good times now I appreciate them everything that exist has it's own purpose.

Tarheel: They're breeding FAST in my yard.

Honeybees are all over the place...more every day. I think it may be because I cut my grass regularly and when I do I get the tall flowering clover. Then, within 2-3 days, there is new flower tops for them withdraw their "stuff" from. It's like a renewable source brought to them by Yours Truly-The Mighty Tar.

D'oh !
