Army Specialist Adam Winfield's fellow soldiers threatened his life after he tried to alert the command structure to US war crimes he had witnessed against Afghans, including the deliberate targeting of civilians in the Maywand district. In the documentary "The Kill Team," Winfield said a brother-in-arms had even sliced a finger from an Afghan as a souvenir.
As Winfield and his father, back home, coordinated to try to halt the brutality, fellow veterans plotted how Winfield might have an “accident” in the weight room, or perhaps fall victim to a “friendly-fire” incident.

Reminds me of the movie "Serpico" … in the 1960's a New York cop refuses to takes bribes and when tries to alert his superiors he is targeted. Nothing seems to change much, does it? Same old, same old.
