Gregory the Great...condemned education for all but the clergy as folly and wickedness. He forbade laymen to read even the Bible. He had the library of the Palatine Apollo burned "lest its secular literature distract the faithful from contemplation of heaven
Pope Gregory [Gregory the Great] declared that all education originated with the devil and then even outlawed the reading of the Bible by laymen. Just possessing a copy of the Bible in a vernacular translation was grounds for the death penalty.
It is not enough that our codes be true; they must also be beautiful. If learning does not teach us to love, we learn without understanding.
1903: I believe the U.S. education system was taken over when the General Education Board, founded by John D. Rockefeller, decided what kids should learn. This put the influence of education in the hands of the ultrarich, and the subject of money was not taught in school. Today, people go to school to learn to work for money, but they learn nothing about how to have money work for them.
The Universities and the associated intellectual organizations throughout the world should function as a police of the mind.
The great university will be divided into grades, admission to which will be through preliminary tests or initiations. Here mankind will be instructed in the most sacred, the most secret, and the most enduring of all Mysteries--Symbolism. Here the initiate will be taught that every visible object, every abstract thought, every emotional reaction is but the symbol of an eternal principle. Here mankind will learn that CHiram (Truth) lies buried in every atom of Kosmos; that every form is a symbol and every symbol the tomb of an eternal verity. Through education--spiritual, mental, moral, and physical--man will learn to release living truths from their lifeless coverings. The perfect government of the earth must be patterned eventually after that divine government by which the universe is ordered. In that day when perfect order is reestablished, with peace universal and good triumphant, men will no longer seek for happiness, for they shall find it welling up within themselves. Dead hopes, dead aspirations, dead virtues shall rise from their graves, and the Spirit of Beauty and Goodness repeatedly slain by ignorant men shall again be the Master of Work. Then shall sages sit upon the seats of the mighty and the gods walk with men.
Since the advent of "progressive education" schools have not been intended to educate, but simply to regiment.
The symptoms that 'educators' are treating with drugs may in fact have nothing to do with congenital brain defects, as they have argued, but with a number of other less mysterious factors including: [...] Poor nutrition [...] Television and other media [...] sexual and violent images disseminated via TV [...] Little parental contact with kids at all [...] Finally, there is a problem with the nature of public schooling itself, which does not challenge children to learn or to think creatively, but instead indoctrinates them to conform to their prison-like surroundings. I personally would not like to endure again the circumstances of regimentation and immobilization—sitting at an uncomfortable desk with hands folded and mouth clamped shut for hours every day—that children are forced to put up with in public schools. I would also not relish again being forced to drag my eyes over and memorize deadly-dull texts that no sane adult would ever read if given a choice in the matter. In circumstances like these, it is no surprise that any child with an ounce of wit or energy would rebel and begin to longingly ogle his father's gun cabinet.
From the standpoint of the social controllers there are many advantages to keeping the populace stupid, not the least being that the less intelligent a person is, the more susceptible he is to exterior control.
At the very top of all the agencies which will assure the coming of world government must stand the school, the teacher, and the organized profession.
[John] Dewey was among the first to promote school as a mechanism for the creation of a Socialist world order, and as a forum for enforcing "conformity" of the masses rather than as a place to learn the three 'R's. In 1899 Dewey said, "Children who know how to think for themselves spoil the harmony of the collective society which is coming where everyone is interdependent."
One reason for the success of Dewey's "progressive education" is that it was backed to the hilt by Rockefeller and Carnegie money.
The third printout is dated 1904 and is a report issued by the General Education Board, one of the first foundations established by John D. Rockefeller, Sr.. The purpose of the foundation was to use the power of money, not to raise the level of education in America, as widely believed at the time, but to influence the direction of that education. Specifically, it was to promote the ideology of collectivism and internationalism. The object was to use the classroom to teach attitudes that encourage people to be passive and submissive to their rulers. The goal was - and is - to create citizens who are educated enough for productive work under supervision but not enough to question authority or seek to rise above their class. True education was to be restricted to the sons and daughters of the elite. For the rest, it would be better to produce skilled workers with no particular aspirations other than to enjoy life.
True meaning of “Graduation” - gradual indoctrination
Drink it deep or touch not the Pyrenean Spring, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
Cathy says she was used to compromise and provide ‘favours’ for key politicians to ensure support for Education 2000. She learned that this project, also known as America 2000 and Global 2000, is designed to increase children’s ‘learning’ capacity while destroying their ability to critically think for themselves. Our children are being mind controlled every day at school and most of the teachers don’t even know they are doing it, because they have been conditioned by the same system. A friend who works in education research in the United Kingdom has had access to suppressed surveys which show that children are asking fewer and fewer questions about the ‘facts’ they are told in school -particularly after they move to the senior school.
