A House Must Be Founded Upon Jesus Christ Only
Christians must build their foundation on the Lord Jesus Christ only. Christians must have their both feet solidly planted on the rock of the Lord Jesus Christ. Christians cannot have one leg on Christ and one leg on Moses, nor one leg in the New Testament and one leg in the Old Testament, nor one leg on Christian ground and one leg on some other ground. Both legs must be firmly planted on Christ, the rock.
The Covenant of Christ has replaced the Covenant of Moses
Israelites cannot follow both Christ and Moses, but only one of them. In the Epistle to the Hebrews chap. 8, the writer speaks of the New Covenant, which God a long time ago, by the prophet Jeremiah, promised He one day would enter with the 12 tribes of Israel. This covenant, of course, is the Covenant of Christ. Here, it is spelled clearly out in the Holy Scripture that the Covenant of Christ was not an amendment to the Covenant of Moses, but a replacement, as it is written speaking of the two covenants: ”In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.” (Hebrews 8:13)
The Holy Scripture must be read in its context, and just before this verse, it is written, first of all that the Covenant of Moses was not faultless, and second of all that it was meant to be replaced by the Covenant of Christ, as God’s covenant with His people Israel: ”For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts; and will be to them a God; and they shall be to me a people:” (Hebrews 8:7-10)
It is thus clear that the 12 tribes of Israel would again be God’s people, as Christians, not under the Old Covenant, not under both the Old and the New Covenant, but under the New Covenant only.
Christ is the freedom from the bondage of the Law of Moses
Christian Israelites naturally identify themselves with Isaac and Sarah, and not with Ishmael the Arab and Hagar the Egyptian. And yet, the Holy Scripture compares those Israelites who desire to be under the Law of Moses with Ishmael and Hagar (Agar), but Christian Israelites who have let go of the Law of Moses to be under Christ, with Isaac and Sarah, when St. Paul writes: ”Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.” (Galatians 4:21-25) These are the Jews who did not follow the Lord Jesus Christ, but stuck to the Law of Moses, of whom Paul is speaking here.
Paul continues his allegory describing the Christians: ”But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate has many more children than she which hath an husband. Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of the promise.” (Galatians 4:26-28) Obviously, Israelites cannot at the same time both correspond to Isaac and Ishmael!
Paul then finishes the allegory by comparing the Mosaic Jews who persecuted the Christian Israelites, with Ishmael who mocked little Isaac: ”But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. Nevertheless, what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.” (Galatians 4:29-31) When Paul in this context writes: ”Cast out the bondwoman and her son”, it means: Cast out the Law of Moses, like Abraham and Sarah cast Hagar and Ishmael out in Genesis chap. 21.
The foundation must be upon the rock of Christ only
In the Sermon on the Mount, the Lord Jesus replaces the Law of Moses one point after the other with His own sayings. The Law of Moses said, as a part of the Ten Commandments: “Thou shalt not commit adultery.” (Exodus 20:14) But Christ replaced this, saying: “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” (Matthew 5:27-28) Now, those who want to follow the Law of Moses and Christ at the same time, must not define adultery by Moses’s definition, but by Christ’s definition.
The Law of Moses said: “Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth:” (Leviticus 24:20) But Christ replaced this, saying: “Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.” (Matthew 5:39-40)
Now, Jesus finishes off the Sermon on the Mount by admonishing the hearers to lay their foundations upon His sayings: “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.” (Matthew 7:24-25)
Here, it is the foundation of the house which Christ talks of, not the contents of the house. Christians have their differences, that is: there may be different contents in their houses. But the foundation of their house must be upon Christ, and nothing else. It is the foundation that counts!
A house build upon Christ and Moses will not last
There are Christian Israelites who try to live according to the Law of Moses. They have one leg on Christ and one leg on Moses. They have build their house partly on a rock and partly on sand.
It is splendid to have many of the wonderful things from the Law of Moses in the house itself, but the Law of Moses must not be a part of the foundation of the house.
The Law of Moses is written on the hearts and minds of Israelites
When the Covenant of Christ replaced the Covenant of Moses, God would write the Law of Moses on the hearts and minds of His people, the 12 tribes of Israel, as it is written: “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.” (Hebrews 8:10)
This means that the general idea, but not every detail, in the Law of Moses would continue in God’s people Israel, and that the general idea, but not every detail, would also be in the Covenant of Christ.
This can be seen in the Danes. According to the Danish law, all young able men must serve a time of military service. But there are exceptions. Young men can legitimately say that they refuse to do their military service, due to religious, political, or pacifist reasons, and instead become conscientious objectors, and serve the same time in a social or cultural institution, a non-profit making organisation, a peace movement, a church, or an environmental organisation. The Conscientious Objector Administration is even a part of the Ministry of Defense!
The use of conscientious objectors is a good example of the Law of Moses being written on the hearts and minds of the Danes. The laws regarding military service in the Law of Moses made sure that all fearfull and fainthearted individuals were sieved out of the armed forces, as well as ensuring many amazing graces which I have never heard of in modern laws for military service. These laws can be found in Deutoronomy chap. 20, where it is written of the preparation of the armed forces: “And the officers shall speak unto the people, saying, What man is there that hath built a new house, and hath not dedicated it? let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man dedicate it. And what man is he that hath planted a vineyard, and hath not eaten of it? let him also go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man eat of it. And what man is there that hath bethrothed a wife, and hath not taken her? Let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her. And the officers shall speak further unto the people, and they shall say, What man is there that is fearfull and fainthearted? Let him go and return unto his house, lest his brethren’s heart faint as well as his heart.” (Deutoronomy 20:5-8, my underlining)
This is a good example that the Law of Moses is alive in God’s people today, and that it is written in their hearts and minds.
Another example is the food laws of the Law of Moses, which prohibited eating many unclean animals, such as pigs, shell fish, and all kinds of disgusting insects (Leviticus chap. 11 and Deutoronomy chap. 14).
In connection with the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, there has been shown the many varieties of the Chinese cuisine, which is full of insects, bugs, creeping things, dogs, cats, and other things that westerners, generally speaking, find nauseating. This is a good example that the Law of Moses is definitely not written in the hearts and minds of the Chinese, but, generally speaking, is written in the hearts and minds of westerners.
Jesus Christ thus fulfilled and completed the Law of Moses, as He said: “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” (Matthew 5:17-18)
A house build upon Christ and Norse mythology will not last
I myself have previously written things where I incorporated Norse mythology so much that it alongside with Christ became a part of the foundation of those writings. It was build partly on a rock and partly on sand, and therefore I have done away with those writings.
Parts of the Norse mythology as corrupted memories of our Israelite origin, and as historical writings, can be found in a house. But they must not be a part of the foundation.
A house build upon Judeo-Christian values will not last
There are mainstream churches which say that their foundation is build upon Judeo-Christian values. But as for the Jewish part of the values they speak of, it must be said: Modern mainstream Judaism is not build upon Moses. Modern mainstream Judaism is build upon the Law of Moses and the Babylonian Talmud, and is in itself therefore a hybrid religion.
On this subject, the American leading rabbi Stephen S. Wise (1874-1949) wrote of the Jews and their religion: “The return from Babylon, and the adoption of the Babylonian Talmud, marks the end of Hebrewism and the beginning of Judaism.”
Also on this subject, the best-selling Jewish-American novelist Herman Wouk (b. 1915) wrote: “The Talmud … is to this day the circulating heart’s blood of the Jewish religion. Whatever laws, customs, or ceremonies we observe – whether we are Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, or merely spasmodic sentimentalists – we follow the Talmud. It is our common law.” (Herman Wouk: This is My God: The Jewish Way of Life)
When churches therefore call themselves Judeo-Christian, and say they are build upon Judeo-Christian values, they are standing partly on a rock and partly on sand, and are definitely not standing on solid ground.
Furthermore, people who have build their house on Judeo-Christian values are not Christians, but Judeo-Christians.
States must be founded upon Christ only
A state must be founded on the rock of Christ exclusively, otherwise it will fall.
The Soviet Union was founded upon godless Communism, and overtly persecuted Christians. It fell within 73 years.
National Socialist Germany was founded upon an ideology which specifically said that Christianity was irreconcilable with National Socialism. (Hitler wrote in Mein Kampf that National Socialism could co-exist with, or incorporate, all ideologies and religions, including Communism, Marxism, and Capitalism, with the sole exception being Christianity.) It fell within 13 years.
The European Union is not founded upon Christ. In the Lisbon Treaty, Christianity is not mentioned as being the foundation of Europe, not even as being a part of the foundation of Europe. Signing the Lisbon Treaty is therefore equivalent to signing the death certificate for the EU.
The United States of America was founded as a Christian nation, and has been a Christian nation ever since, and also a nation impregnable for enemies outside its borders. But if the foundation of the USA now is “Judeo-Christianity”, that is Judaism and Christianity, as certain apostate Christians claim it is, then the foundation is equivalent to partly rock and partly sand.
The foundation must be build upon Christ only
A house may be good to live in and may have all kinds of good contents. But if its foundation is not a lasting foundation, then that house will eventually fall, no matter how good it is to live in.
There are churches of which it may be said: They do many things for the poor, they have much love, their members are good neighbours, and so forth. But if the foundation of such churches is not right, if they have two foundations, for instance a Judeo-Christian foundation, or a Christian and Humanist foundation, or founded upon Christ and Joseph Smith, they will not last.
Of states, it may be said of the European Union that they make many things more convenient, easier and cheaper, secure peace, and so forth. But such things really do not matter if the foundation is not right, because it will end up being swept away.
