Priory of Sion
The Da Vinci Code, by Dan Brown. In book and films of this kind, what might be referred to as the "esoteric branch" within Christianity, is depicted as being in conflict with the orthodox or "exoteric brand." The establishment appears to be gradually admitting the existence of the esoteric branch and the media often glamorizes the various secret societies and their members so that the public at large may easily condone their activities and even imagine them to be decent, god-loving, keepers of mysterious secrets and occult powers. We might question what establishment or group would profit from such flagrantly fabricated depictions. And might ask why the public would be given the impression that certain secret societies, such as the Priory of Sion, are great if shadowy benefactors of mankind.
In November 1688 (under the sign of Scorpio) the catholic king of England James II (Stuart) was overthrown through a well-organized invasion financed by the moneyed Jews of Amsterdam and led by the Prieure de Sion and the Orange Order. The king was exiled to France and in February of 1689 William of Orange, the Prince of Nassau, was put upon the English throne by means of a coup d’etat, which became known as the Glorious Revolution. Even official historians admit that the people did not participate in this coup.
The Prieure de Sion initiated, with the aid of the moneychangers (above all the Portuguese rabbi Menasseh ben Israel who lived in the Netherlands, and Antonio Fernandez Moses Carvajal) the insurrection of 1642, led by Oliver Cromwell, which in turn led to the first republic(Commonwealth) in England in 1649.
Whether the Priory de Sion of more modern times is identical with this earlier order [Order of Zion], is difficult to establish. It may well be. The fact that the new order was registered and closely affiliated with Switzerland's most illustrious Freemasonic Order, Grand Lodge Alpina, certainly gives us food for thought. This Swiss Order is itself in command over the infamous P2 Lodge of Freemasons in Rome. And P2 certainly exists.
In 1188, the Order de Zion gained a new name, the Prieure de Sion and their own grandmaster Jean de Gisors. At the same time a second name - “Ormus” was taken, which was used until 1306. According to the Freemasons, Ormus was an Egyptian magician.
As the majority of the historical accounts will relate, the Templars were formed to invade and capture the City of Jerusalem for the pope and for Christianity. Upon their successful crusade, in1099 AD, they established their headquarters at Jerusalem's Temple Mount. This is where their name is said to have originated. Some researchers into Templar history maintain that while they were residing in the "holy land" the Templar elite cultivated long lasting collaborations with many Gnostic sects and secret societies. Among these secret affiliates were the Mandeans and Assassins. Interestingly, a chief hierophant of the Mandean sect had been John the Baptist who was entitled the "King of Light." It is alleged that, since the time of the First Crusade, the Templars, as well as the Order of Sion, have maintained their veneration of John, the beheaded initiator of Christ. The Order of Sion, in particular, are believed to have entitled their own chiefs "Jean" or "John," while a major worldwide Templar Order also dating from the crusades was known as the "Knights of St. John." Allegedly, this allegiance to John was one of the reasons why the Templars were targeted by the Vatican hierarchs.
Most of the Grand Masters of the Priory of Sion have Rosicrucian connections.
The role of the Priory of Sion, claimed by the book Holy Blood, Holy Grail, is to protect a ‘royal’ bloodline called the Merovingians, but there are so many smokescreens in this story to obscure the truth. One of these is the claim that the Merovingians are the bloodline of Jesus, via the child or children he conceived with Mary Magdalene, who fled with them to the South of France after the ‘Crucifixion’. But there was no Jesus and no Mary because these are symbolic figures in a story which has been told endless times throughout the pre-Christian world, using different names. I find it hard to comprehend, therefore, how two symbolic people could conceive a bloodline that became the Merovingians. It’s baloney and this tale has been hatched to divert researchers from the truth. Yes, the truth is about bloodlines and no doubt the Merovingians are a major one. But no, it has nothing whatsoever to do with Jesus. This particular line, going back to Alexander the Great and beyond, became known as the Merovingians in France by the 5th and 6th centuries.
Leonardo da Vinci, the Grand Master of the Priory of Sion (sun), used this same symbolism in his famous painting of the Last Supper. He divides the 12 disciples into four groups of three with Jesus, the 'Sun', in the middle of them.
