Someone who belongs to the Semitic peoples. The Semites are supposedly descended from the biblical Shem, the eldest son of Noah.

So as you can see all the sources agree that a Semite descends from Shem, the oldest son of Noah. Obviously Dictionary.com had to give the short-sided, less-researched answer of "a Jew" when, as you will shortly see, this definition is clearly lacking in an understanding of the descendants of Shem and Israel in general.

The diagram attached shows a stellar genealogy of the sons of Shem illustrating that the tribe of Judah is merely 1 of 12 of the tribes. This means that they are not the only Semites, there are 11 other tribes!

Conclusion

So the next time you're called "anti-Semitic" in relation to the Jewish race perhaps what the person really meant to say was that they were anti-research.
